I don’t know about you, but if you grew up around a certain era and loved video games as a kid, there are some tunes from those titles that still rattle around in your brain. Tracks from Sonic 2, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and all sorts of other gems still play constantly in my head, so I know it happens to you too. (I’m not crazy, you’re crazy!)

Earlier today, the dudes from Polyphia dropped their entry into the pantheon of video game music with the song “Let’s Go (2XKO Theme)” for the upcoming fighting game 2XKO from Riot Games. It’s a four minute banger where all four members of the band shared in the writing and performance responsibilities, with help from producer RJ Pasin and composer Jesse Zuretti. What you get is a cohesive composition that Tim Henson, Scott LePage, Clay Gober and Clay Aeschliman can take solace in knowing millions of people will hear their new song.

According to Zuretti, the chance to work individually with the members of Polyphia was a dream come true.

“As someone deeply rooted in the metal and guitar world for over 23 years (and now game audio and dev), it’s so inspiring to hear each member of Polyphia’s unique musical voice with the storytelling and energy that fighting games demand.

“Composing this theme was about more than just writing music, it was about creating a sound that resonates with 2XKO players, that captures the soul of the FGC’s incredible history of music and games, and feels authentically tied to the characters and world of Runeterra and beyond.”

You can check out the new track by either hitting play on the clip below or by downloading and playing the 2XKO Closed Beta today on PC.
